Sight: A pretty amethyst – ruby color with a lean toward red on the edges.
Smell: Raspberry, black plum, and hints of strawberry all start things out. Great touches of vanilla, cocoa. black currant, and spice all come into play. A hint of smoke and herbs to round things out.
Sip: Things start off bright, with a light to moderate weight body. Flavors of cranberry, pomegranate, and spice all make up the primary elements, and hints of black plum skin, cocoa, and vanilla add complexity.
Savor: The ending leans more toward red plum with a hint of raspberries and spice. The tannins are gentle and well behaved.
Murphy Goode Homefront Red is well crafted, harmonious, and packed with delicious red fruits. The more peaked flavor profile lends itself to leaning into the more bright red fruits, and little touches of oak and spice compliment them well. Overall, for around $12 Murphy Goode Homefront Red is well constructed and flavorful.
