Continuing an interesting finale based on pumpkins and accidental nautical themes, comes Heavy Seas Mutiny Fleet The Great Pumpkin. With a name that long, Lucy has plenty of time to pull the football out of the way. The question though, is can Heavy Seas make a large enough distraction to actually let Charlie Brown get the kickoff?
Sight: Amber, orange, with hints of candied caramel.
Smell: There’s a strong cinnamon note. Brown sugar pulls through heavily, with notes of nutmeg and all spice. Cardamom seems mildly present, but behind a kind of molasses note.
Sip: The brew has a lot of cinnamon and nutmeg. There’s a bit of clove, but it hides behind a seemingly cardamom strand. There’s a lot of brown sugar and pumpkin involved.
Savor: There’s a slightly hoppy ending with a lot of pumpkin in it. The cloves carry through rather firmly, but the cinnamon gets more downplay than might be expected.
Overall, Heavy Seas Mutiny Fleet The Great Pumpkin does an extremely good spice cabinet imitation. It’s an enjoyable romp through the pirate camp of pumpkin world. However, it seems like the pirate camp is trying to preserve their pumpkins using spice cabinets. It’s not bad, but less hops and molasses could go a long way to make it slightly easier on the palate and stomach.
