Welcome to FAQ Friday, where we’ll be seeking to answer questions we’ve received through the out the week, via mail, twitter, facebook, carrier pigeon, owl post, smoke signals, and any other imaginative way that readers have thought to contact us.
Before we get started, we’d like to get reader feedback. Should we keep Wine Philosophy Friday, or switch to this quick question / answer format? Let us know! Thanks!
Why haven’t you featured Wayne Gretzky’s wine? – Mike
Well Mike, unfortunately we’ve been out of Mr. Gretzky’s market, which is near Canada. However, we’d be more than happy to look for a bottle next time we’re in New York. If Mr. Gretzky would also like to send us a bottle to tell our readers about, we’d be more than happy to talk about it on the show!

What is the alcohol content in Cupcake Chardonnay? – Search
Alcohol by volume for Cupcake Chardonnay is 12.5% by volume.
Which is drier, Riesling or Chardonnay? – Search
This is actually a bit of a tricky question. On average, chardonnay will be ‘drier’ than riesling, and this is because chardonnay is very rarely produced as a sweet wine. Riesling, by contrast, can be either bone-dry, semi-dry, or sweet. Most rieslings will have some form of labeling to distinguish if they are dry or sweet.
If in doubt about a particular bottle, ask your local wine store retailer, or the waiter if you’re out to dinner!
