Hot on the heels, or hooves, of their Electric Reindeer White Zinfandel comes Electric Reindeer Moscato. Generally speaking, almost every moscato that’s come through First Pour Wine has done pretty well, so nothing short of high expectations for Electric Reindeer Moscato. Is it Rudolph leading the with flavors so bright, or is more reindeer droppings.
Sight: Pale green-gold, watery edges
Smell: Tangerines and peaches are evident on the nose, with a bitterish kind of floral note. The nose is hint sweet, but overall, it’s not particularly definite, but very fruit forward.
Sip: Sure enough, it starts out sweet and rather heavy as a result. The acidity is more muted, and the overall feel ends up a bit flabby. There’s a deeply odd artificial flavor throughout, like fake pineapple, mixing with bitter notes of flowers, rubber, and citrus pith. While stone fruit peaks in, the other flavors are very distracting.
Savor: The aftertaste has something particularly rubbery going on, and it seems rather artificial. There are some peaks of promise with white grapes
Electric Reindeer Moscato must have stuck an antler in the socket, because there’s something charging through the wine that isn’t working for the flavors. The foreign flavors that seem rubber and artificial fruit aren’t something that most would want in their wine. While the label is cute, save your guests the shock of Electric Reindeer Moscato, and stick to Seven Daughters.
Verdict: Rubber, Artificial Pineapple, Flabby, Sweet
