On this episode, we talk about Dark Horse Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Katy Perry, and Barack Obama!
Sight: A bright purple with a hot magenta set of edges
Smell: The nose is full of boysenberries, blueberries, and blackberries. Everything in the nose has a very concentrated, with a touch of heat and eucalyptus. Touches of tobacco and spice hide at the fringe.
Sip: Bright, with a hint of bitterness, but a soft, smooth, heavish body. Blackberries and blueberries get into play here, with vanilla and spice getting into the act. Plum skin plays prominently as well.
Savor: The ending has a hint of eucalyptus and underripe blackberries. Hint of vanilla, and moderate tannins.
Dark Horse Cabernet Sauvignon is a little bit unbalanced, bouncing around between bitter and concentrated, heavy and soft. The flavor profile isn’t bad for Cabernet Sauvignon, but it’s also not stand out or composed. If you need some dependable, middling Cabernet Sauvignon, then Dark Horse Cabernet Sauvignon is a decent choice.
Verdict: Boysenberries, Blueberries, Vanilla, Spice
