Over the past weekend Mother Nature decided to throw a bit of a curve ball here in Cleveland. Rather than, birds chirping, and sun shining, and flowers and trees bursting into bloom, Cleveland got a nice healthy coating of snow. So what better way to brighten things up than with a trip to Italy in a bottle? Col Brioso Extra Dry Prosecco offers a chance to do just that.
Sight: A medium to light gold with small bubbles.
Smell: Big apples and pears jump out, being complimented by lemon and honeysuckle. Touches of peach and apricot get into the act adding to the general fruitiness.
Sip: A gentle sweetness starts out, before ripe golden delicious apples, pears, and hints of lemon pith come together. Fruity stone fruit flavors get into the act, and a little bit of wet stone is present. The moderate body is fully of tiny little bubbles, make it slightly rough, but up lifting.
Savor: The ending keeps some apple and pear skin, but disappears relatively quickly.
Col Brioso Extra Dry Prosecco is nicely balanced between sweet and dry, and a great amount of fruit. There isn’t much in the way of complexity, and some of the stone notes get obtuse, but by and large, the flavors are great for easy drinking or a light meal. If you’re looking for a tasty prosecco for $10, Col Brioso Extra Dry Prosecco is a great choice.
