Here in Cleveland, things are heating up, and not just because of the Cavs run to the finals. No, instead this is one of the most beautiful times of the year here, where instead of snow, there’s beautiful sunshine, pretty views of lake Erie, and tasty festivals like taste of Tremont and taste of Lakewood. Coming out of the winter freeze though, it’s been surprisingly warm, and it means it’s the perfect time for something refreshing, like rosé
Aimé Roquesante Rosé 2015
Sight: Not quite a straight pink, instead picking up bits of copper throughout.
Smell: Cherries, wet stone, and a little bit of earth. Roses and hints of orange zest jump in around the edges.
Sip: Bright, very lively, light on the palate, nice cherry and red currant. A touch hibiscus and a pronounced mixture of scruby herbs like rosemary and thyme come into play for garigue. It’s a very herbal wine that has a good amount of salinity.
Savor: The ending continues that mixture of garigue and salinity, with hints of sour cherries.
Aimé Roquesante Rosé 2015 is old school as they come, and delivers a provincial experience with flagrant, rustic touches. The wine is unapologetic in it’s commitment to the older style, right down to the bottle. If you’re looking for fruit, look else where. Pairing wise, Aimé Roquesante Rosé is a great choice for seafood dishes or light summer fare.
