On this episode, we talk about trees, giraffes, squinting really hard, and of course,A By Acacia Pinot Noir 2014.
A by Acacia Pinot Noir 2014
Sight: A lighter purple core with a tinges of ruby throughout
Smell: The first impression was cigars, followed by mushrooms and a dusty back country drive in the middle of a hot summer day. Notes of cocoa powder play background to cherries which bring a fruitness. The nose is a little on the hot side.
Sip: Cherry and spice at the leading elements here, but the earthy notes on the nose backdown greatly. It’s a bit hot, and leans toward black plums and spice from time to time. Very bright, with a slightly aggressive feel.
Savor: The ending is more tannic that one might expect, and pulls in some of the black cherry and also a little earth.
A By Acacia Pinot Noir is merely alright as bargain Pinot Noir goes. While there’s nothing horrible going on here, there are some mild detractions thanks to the heat on the nose and palate. The overall flavors are good, if inconsistent. If you happen to be buying Pinot Noir on a budget, there’s far worse you could do than A by Acacia Pinot Noir.
Verdict: Cherry, Mushroom, Chocolate, Hot
