Sight: A deep inky ruby-violet core with hints of brick to it
Smell: Boysenberries and artificial cherries mix with touches of candy and smoke. The nose is vibrant fruit punch kind of character. There’s a hint of something green as well, and there’s a ton of red fruit.
Sip: The body is round, a hint bright, and soft. The line cross from soft to borderline flabby at points. Good elements of pomegranate, raspberry, black plum, and artificial cherry candy all jump in. There’s a little bit of vanilla, and a touch of tannin.
Savor: The finish gets more strawberry like, and borders on candy. A few more tannins get involved, and it leaves a jammy kind of note on the palate.
Barefoot Rich Red Blend isn’t really rich and is priced accordingly. The flavor profile here is dry, although, with some of the flavors, you may wonder if it’s sweet. Complexity isn’t the strong suit of this wine, but for simple quaffability, it’s just fine. Don’t expect too much of Barefoot Rich Red Blend, and you won’t be disappointed.
Verdict: Cherry Candy, Boysenberries, Black Plum, Raspberry
