Borsao Rosé 2014

Borsao Rose 2014 Bottle

With the start of May, it’s time for it to start warming up!  And that means, it’s rosé season!  So for the next week, it’s rosé time here on First Pour Wine.  Leading us off is the Borsao Rosé.  Made from Garnacha, and has a delightful color and label that promises sun-drenched strawberries.  Does it deliver for our kickoff of spring?

Borsao Rose 2014

Sight:  A beautiful shade of light pink that shimmers enticingly

Smell:  Light, subtle, and decidedly fruit.  There are plenty of berries in the nose, leaning more toward raspberry and strawberry.

Sip: Crisp, refreshing, light, and simple.  Underripe strawberries and fresh raspberries come together in harmony, with a slight edge of bitterness.

Savor:  The ending is short, and clean, with a little bit of berry flavor.

Borsao Rosé is decidedly simple and easy going.  There’s nothing wrong with that, and it would make a delightful little picnic wine.  Aside from looking pretty in the glass and refreshment, don’t expect much from Borsao Rosé.

Verdict:  Strawberry, Raspberry, Bright, Simple
