Let’s say, you want something a little less like a traditional wine, and more like, well, cranberry juice. Enter Secco Cranberry, a grape wine product made with cranberry juice, natural flavoring, and color. While cranberry sauce goes well with turkey, can Secco Cranberry make a go of it as a beverage instead?
Sight: Not a whole lot of point in sighting this one, it’s made of cranberries and grapes, but it has color added.
Smell: The nose is cranberry, with a little bit of a jello kind of thing doing on. There’s a tough of a grape smell as well.
Sip: Bright and very lightly fizzy, there’s a good hit of cranberry, and another flavor bordering on pomegranate or red grape juice. There’s a decent sweetness throughout.
Savor: Hint of cranberry that fades away very slightly.
Secco Cranberry is more or less exactly what it say it is, Cranberry flavored wine beverage. While it’s nice for just sipping, there’s some fun potential here for a cocktail, possibly with vodka or gin, a cordial, and lime. It could also be fun for Thanksgiving, adding that cranberry sauce flavor without the sauce, but might be overwhelmed by the food. As Christmas goes, it could be a fun poinsettia stand in. Oddly, the best match might be something salty and crunchy, like potato chips or chicharrones. Either way, Secco Cranberry is fun and tasty, if not quite what most would classify as wine.
Verdict: Sweet, Cranberry, Fizzy
