2010 FlipFlop Moscato

Sometimes you just can’t go Barefoot.  At these times, Flip Flops can be as close as you can get.  Other times, when on hot pavement or walking near sharp objects, flip flops are preferable to barefoot.  All of this has nothing to do with 2010 FlipFlop Moscato vs. the recently reviewed Barefoot Moscato.  One can’t help wonder though, do shoe preferences matter in terms of wine.

Sight:  Straw color, extremely light.

Smell:  Apricot, peaches and lychee all feature predominately.  A slight sweetness is unavoidable on the nose, with a touch of a floral component reminiscent of honeysuckle and wet gravel.

Sip:  Sweet, but not so sweet as fortified.  The mouth feel is slightly thick from the residual sugar, but the moderate level of acid creates a nice balance.  Peaches, lychee, white grapes, and tangerine are the main players, with hints of honeysuckle.

Savor:   Tangerines and lilies play out in a beautiful but short ending.

Overall,  it’s a wonderful way to keep dancing on your feet.  This moscato is cheap and vibrant, while managing to be elegant and sweet.  Lovers of small bubbles and sweet whites might have a preference between the two, but both will be lovely on a warm Indian summer day or just for fun before an evening out.

Verdict: Throw on your dancing shoes.
